Meet the Candidates
Michael Yocum - District 1
Hello, I’m Michael Yocum, a proud Jeffco graduate, having attended Warren Tech and Ralston Valley High School. I come from a long line of Jefferson County educators, including my mom, who is currently an assistant principal in Jeffco. I’m honored to have the endorsement of the Jefferson County Educators Association (JCEA) and am excited to be running to serve you on the Jeffco School Board in District 1.
I’ve seen firsthand what happens when our schools aren’t properly funded and when district decisions pull resources away from students. I also know how critical it is to offer multiple pathways that lead students to meaningful careers after high school. I’m excited to bring my business experience to the district and to serve as Director of District 1, where I’ll work to ensure real, meaningful fiscal transparency and accountability.
Peter Gibbins - District 2
My name is Peter Gibbins and I’m the proud parent of a Jefferson County Public Schools student and currently work as an attorney. Throughout my career—including my time as a labor organizer—I’ve learned that collaboration with workers is essential to running effective, well-functioning organizations. That’s why I’ve stepped up to run for Jeffco School Board in the District 2 seat and am thrilled to have the endorsement of my union brothers and sisters of the Jefferson County Educators Association, our teachers.
As Director of District 2, I hope to use my experience to help rebuild trusting relationships between educators and the administrative leadership of Jefferson County Public Schools. I’m excited to bring my background in law and policy to the School Board to help ensure transparency and accountability across our district.
Tina Moeinian - District 5
I’m Tina Moeinian and I’m running for Jeffco School Board Director of District 5 because I want to ensure that Jeffco Public Schools provide a fair and safe learning environment for all students. I’ve worked as an Equal Employment Opportunity specialist and a mediator, focusing on supporting both workplace and community conflict resolution and problem-solving.
I know firsthand that access to high-quality, equitable public education can make all the difference in a child’s life. I’m committed to fighting for full funding for our schools and making sure that vital services and programs are available to every student. I’m honored to have the endorsement of the Jefferson County Educators Association (JCEA) and look forward to working side by side with you for our schools.
